Easy Come, Easy Go

That old saying is really true. This weekend, a house that my brother and I inherited a couple of month ago, burned in an electrical fire caused by high winds. My brother and sister-in-law had already started moving some of their stuff in it. Amazingly, most of their stuff survived, but the house is a total loss. Unfortunately, my grandmother didn't insure the house. It could have been much much worse though. Easy come, easy go.

VD

Ok, I really expected today to suck, but it wasn't that bad. A good friend of mine brought me some cupcakes before work. That one act of kindness changed my whole day, and by changing a day in my life you've effectively changed my life. I don't know if many people realize how a small act can change someone's life. Share your light people!

Valentine's eve

Tonight is the day before Valentine's day, which for me is a day which holds many negative connotations. Yes, rub it it in my face, I have no one, I am but a half, no better half, just a half. Please re-run the sickening romance movies over and over again, and show the "ring and roses" commercials every 15 minutes. I don't feel shitty enough; please cram it down my throat more. This year I will continue my tradition of watching violent war movies and getting drunk. However, This year I have learned how to make my own alcohol. I made a weird champagne like alcohol that so far is getting me pretty messed-up. I have had about 4-5 glasses, and my eyes are crossed. I just used grape juice, water, sugar and yeast. It fermented for about 2 weeks, and it is quite dry.
So tomorrow it will be "Full Metal Jacket, Jarhead, and whatever else I can come up with. I have suffered through "My Best Friend's Wedding" way too long.

Dick Dale

So, Thursday night I went to San Antonio to see Dick Dale - "King of the Surf Guitar". Now at 69 he is quite a performer. His guitar work was awesome, and he also played the drums and a trumpet. As soon as he started playing, I really wished I hadn't forgotten my camera; I could have posted some pics. It was really hard to tell how he was playing, because he's left handed, plays a left handed guitar, with the strings backwards. He also switched from playing below the neck to above the neck. I had a great time.
