Rude people pt. 2
Yesterday's post was more apprapoe than I could have imagined. Today I had an encounter (by phone) with one of the rudest customers I have ever met. I repaired a product that we sold him about a year ago. He was apparently still having problems with it, although I am convinced they are caused by the customer. He launched into a tirade of "f-bombs" worse than I have ever heard from him before. I told him I would not listen to his cursing and he evidently thought I hung up, because he hung up, and called right back. He continued in his tirade and demanded his money back, called me a liar, and demanded to speak to the owner. I told him the owner was out of town, and would return his call on Monday. He again called me a liar and demanded to be called back in 24 hours. I told him there was no possibility of being called back in 24 hours and he would have to wait. He kept screaming obscenities and I finally just started screaming back at him, but not obscenities. I told him he would have to bring or send the product back to give me another chance to fix it, because I couldn't make the decision to give his money back. He told me to come get it myself, and I said it wasn't my responsibility to get it, it was his responsibility to get it to me. He demanded his money back again and I said "you have to give me another chance to fix it.", to which he replied, "you can't fix it you dumb shit!!" and hung up. I was so angry and tired of dealing with idiots like that that I went and filed a statement at the sheriff's office, and I am now prepared to file criminal trespass charges against him if he steps foot in the store. I feel like we will get in an altercation if I see him in person again. I don't feel like anyone should have to put up with crap like that!

I think people are definately more rude today. I think we have had a generation or two neglect to teach their children basic manners and it evolves into the current state of the world. I also think that we, especially as Americans, have developed such a short attention span that we can hardly tolerate waiting or being inconvienced in any way. We want everything now. We are very self-centered people and it will be our downfall. I'm very careful that Bryson understands manners and practices them. Proverbs 15:1, a kind word turns away anger. I bet if that guy had practiced that, you would have been happy to help him.
