Cowboy Junkies

"Do you remember when you'd pray to never see the day
when someone would make you feel this way
'cause you knew they would cut right through you
and once inside, you were afraid they'd find nothing to hold on to"

home brew

Lately I have been experimenting with making my own beer and wines. Just really simple stuff like ginger ale, mead, and wine. I found a recipe for ginger ale on wikipedia that was really simple. (ginger root, sugar, yeast, and water). It was pretty good, but I drank it before the alcohol content was much, ( I'm guessing it was about 3%) . Then I made some mead, (honey, yeast, water). After the initial fermentation, it tasted much like beer. I then added sugar and left it for about 10-14 more days. After a total of about 20 days, it tasted alot like cold duck. 32 ounces of it was enough to get me a little buzzed. I am now trying a nice "toilet wine" of grape juice, sugar, yeast and water. So far it has a lot of carbonation to it, so I think I'll add more sugar in a few more days, and maybe it will be ready by the 14th. I just like trying goofy recipes to see what will happen.

Snow, Sleet, and Ice

You'll have to excuse my typos in this post. I am typing with gloves on because it is so cold in my house; my heaters just can't keep up. I also have on my wool watchcap and insulated pants.
It snowed off and on all day today, and it is now sleeting. I hope it really piles up, 'cause I really want to go skiing tomorrow instead of working. However I am the only employee who has a ghost of a chance making it to work when it's icy because I live in town, I don't live on a hill anymore, and I am about a ten minute walk from work. Screw that!, the only way I would walk to work in weather like this is... I wouldn't.
I appeared at a probate hearing today, but I was the only one there. No one else showed because of the weather. Thanks for the phone call everybody! The judge was dumbfounded that no one had contacted me. Oh well, it was my morning break I guess.
Did I mention I am looking forward to snow? I am also looking forward to blowing off some steam tomorrow. Wheeeeee!
I have some more things to get off my chest, but I wont ruin a perfectly good post with all of that other stuff.

Rude people pt. 2

Yesterday's post was more apprapoe than I could have imagined. Today I had an encounter (by phone) with one of the rudest customers I have ever met. I repaired a product that we sold him about a year ago. He was apparently still having problems with it, although I am convinced they are caused by the customer. He launched into a tirade of "f-bombs" worse than I have ever heard from him before. I told him I would not listen to his cursing and he evidently thought I hung up, because he hung up, and called right back. He continued in his tirade and demanded his money back, called me a liar, and demanded to speak to the owner. I told him the owner was out of town, and would return his call on Monday. He again called me a liar and demanded to be called back in 24 hours. I told him there was no possibility of being called back in 24 hours and he would have to wait. He kept screaming obscenities and I finally just started screaming back at him, but not obscenities. I told him he would have to bring or send the product back to give me another chance to fix it, because I couldn't make the decision to give his money back. He told me to come get it myself, and I said it wasn't my responsibility to get it, it was his responsibility to get it to me. He demanded his money back again and I said "you have to give me another chance to fix it.", to which he replied, "you can't fix it you dumb shit!!" and hung up. I was so angry and tired of dealing with idiots like that that I went and filed a statement at the sheriff's office, and I am now prepared to file criminal trespass charges against him if he steps foot in the store. I feel like we will get in an altercation if I see him in person again. I don't feel like anyone should have to put up with crap like that!

Doesn't it seem like people are much ruder today than just ten years ago? At least many people I have talked to lately have been rude. I think people are are really caugt up in their egos. Everything seems to be a competition. They take common mistakes as a personal attack. I have been listening to Eckhart Tolle lately and have been trying to ignore my ego a little more, in an effort to find some lasting joy in my life. My church has also been instrumental in helping me accept life and looking at life in a more positive way. It hasn't been easy changing my outlook, and it will probably take the rest of my life to find joy.
