Vacation day 6

Today I headed to Brookhaven to say hi to an old friend, but we weren't able to make a connection. So I just drove around a bit, stopped by a music store, and headed back to Natchez. I ate lunch at La Fiesta Grande in Natchez, and headed for home. The drive back was nice, until I got to College Station. It was getting late, and I got a little lost, and was getting a bit grumpy. I pushed on however. By the time I got to Llano I was starting to imagine things, so I called a friend to help me stay awake. I was very close to home by now so I pushed on and made it in at a relatively decent hour. Brookhaven, MS to Menard, TX in a day; not too bad.

Vacation day 5

Ahh, Natchez is so nice. I woke up early this morning and headed to the river. The visitor center was across from the hotel, so I decided to take a look. It was very pretty. Then I walked down town to look at the houses. I really like all of the old architecture, and was amazed that many of the houses were for sale. Just for grins, I called about a house - $750,000, a fixer-upper. I had lunch at a great little mexican resturaunt called La Fiesta Grande. Mmmm. I headed back downtown to look at all of the houses and shops; just fantastic. Supper was at Fat Mama's, home of the margarita that "knocks you naked".

Vacation day 4

I left Temple this morning and decided my spare tire wouldn't cut it. I stopped in Marlin and got a couple of new tires. I headed through Texas on to Louisiana. I had to stop in Many, LA to grab a bite to eat and to get a map. Internet on my cell phone had quit before I left Texas(actually my service in general was dead), and I had also not looked at a map any further than Many, LA. After choosing my route, I headed to Alexandria. I got lost for just a second, but I was quickly back on course. After a relatively short drive, I was crossing the Mississippi river into Natchez.

Vacation day 3

After another sleep deprived night, I got up and fished (no luck), and then had a couple of hotdogs. I dug up an old innertube and went for a float. It was very overcast, and started raining shortly after this picture was taken. I packed everything up and headed home. I didn't want to waste the rest of my vacation so I decided to go on a road trip. I started heading for Temple, and thought I would decide where to go from there. My check engine light came on in Lampassas, and I got that taken care of. Then in Killeen, I had a blowout! It was in heavy traffic, and in a construction zone. I quickly got my spare tire on, and headed on my way. I was hoping to get a little further tonight, but everything that happened, and with the lack of sleep, I decided to get a room in Temple. We'll see how far I get tomorrow!

Vacation day 2

Another hot and restless night. That morning, I used my clay and brick grill to bake some "bread". It was edible. I explored the area, and tried a little fishing.

Vacation day 1

For vacation, I decided to go camping at an undisclosed location. The following pics are of what I took, My pack, and my campsite. I thought I had chosen a secuded spot, but as night fell, I heard fishermen checking bank poles all night. Other noises I heard that night were deer running past my tent, a fox barking, and raccoons fighting.

I thought I was doing really good, but I am so down this morning. I can't really talk to anyone about it, I have to push it down and put on a happy face, or at least try not to cry. I can't justify feeling this way, but it just happens sometimes. I honestly thought I was over it, and that we could just be friends; I know we can, but it's gonna take some time...
